As a child I was always fascinated by things of science. My big personal interest, like many other children, was with dinosaurs. But for me it was more than just enjoying playing with dinosaur toys or having a few books. I actually wanted to know everything I could about these extinct animals. Species types, the diffferent geological time periods when they lived, theories of extinction, and anything else that went along with dinosaurs. Almost all the way up until high school I was bound and determined to go into some field of science (preferably paleontology). But then I began to learn something. While science greatly interested me I wasn’t all that good at it. You see I am not very good at math, and often get impatient trying to preform procedures that require rigorous control. All around the path of science was going to be difficult for me to be intimately involved in. Still this didn’t destroy my interest. I read all sorts of material on subjects ranging from experimental physics to evolutionary biology to nano-material development. I love it all. I may not be a scientist but I sometimes sure wish I was.
The purpose of this blog is to share topics of interest in regards to the sciences. You will probably notice that a lot of the posts are in response to articles appearing elsewhere. When I find something of interest I like to share it and talk about it. Hopefully others will find some of these topics fascinating as well.

Whoa ! Your Blog made me look at science in a very different way ! Thanks for that !
I couldn’t help but notice something entirely different about your site today.
science will give you awareness toward everything. it will also will give us slight thinking of what would happen here, now and after…
Hi, I love your blog, especially the posts related to marine life! If I had a specific question for you, how would I go about contacting you by e-mail. Please feel free to write to me at charismaqueen100@gmail.com
Thanks and keep up the good work!
Sorry, I’ve called you Nathaniel on other posts at this site. Now I am not sure that is correct. Forgive me for that as I am new at blogs.
And, also please forgive me for using your link to check out whether my picture will appear instead of the purple box. But that is what this message is about.
Ahh, maybe you can consider it my science experiment. Hopefully you possess a sense of humor and it extends to an old lady. He He

No problem, my name is Nathaniel. Thanks for visiting my blog and best of luck to you in the whole blogging process.
Hi Nathaniel! I love your blog, and so related to your experiences as a child. I’m not good at math either, so being a scientist was out. I actually wanted to be a marine biologist. Anyway, I will be following your blog and recommending it to others. I hope you visit the Hill-Stead Nature Blog again. I am flattered. Warm Regards, Diane Tucker
Diane, thanks for the comments. I love hearing from people who share the experience of loving science even if not pursuing it themselves. I look forward to visiting your blog. Stop by again! Returned warm Regards.

I work with scientists all day but am an admin assistant. I was feeling particularly down today about not being part of the cool “science herd” and googled “I wish I was a scientist” and your blog came up! Great posts! Very interesting!
I also love dinosaurs, but am particularly fond of astronomy, so if I could be a scientist, I would be an astrophysicist.:)
Like your site, I was exactly the same way as a kid. Had books, knew the different dinosaur species, collected the toys, played with the toys, dreamed of digging up dinosaur fossils, and collected rocks and bones. Yes, I was considered strange by many. But my parents supported my collecting, and took me places to further my collections and go hunting for rocks and sharks teeth. Somewhere between there and now I had lost my dream, and was just wishing I had followed it. Then I accidently found this site. The picture of the prehistoric crocodile caught my attention. I like art too, I consider myself a self-taught artist, as we didn’t have art classes in my school…. Anyways, I went to college with the intention of being a student of art but didn’t get to get into any art classes because of pressure to have a steady income when i grew up, and became an Environmental Scientist instead… not in professional practice as of yet, because of my few attempts to get a job didn’t land me a job, and then I discovered shortly after my last interview I was pregnant. So, now, I’m currently a stay at home mom. Enjoying what little free time I have, being creative in different mediums, and dreaming of what I could have been… Who knows what the future will bring!
